This box is much smaller than I expected, which is really good. It is nicely hidden amongst the 300 other devices I have around my TV. My TV has only one HDMI input so this is really important now that I am running a HD box AND my Xbox 360. The only problem is that this device does not switch automatically between my devices. Thankfully it has a remote control and you can simply press the device button you want from your couch. I gave it 3 stars because prior to this device I was walking to the back of my tv and manually switching between HD cable and XBox cable. As much of a pain this device is, it’s so much better than what I was doing before.

I seems there is a problem with getting the proper switch. Some people get the auto switcher, others do not. I am one of the “DO Not’s”. If I could, I would put a comment of the sellers website, but I am unable to find a lionk to do so.

I WANT AND NEED THE AUTO SWITCH FUNCTION!!!!!

Ok, so I am no blunderer when it comes to A/V, but I am no video/audiophile, either. I bought this switch because I have an OLD Sony Plasma 42″ that we use as the main TV in our family room. It’s so old that it has only on HDMI port, hence the need for this switch.

When I connected this switch to my Xbox 360 and the FiOS HD box, the switch would automatically switch to the Xbox when it was powered on, which was nice. The hokey little remote for the switch was unnecessary in my case, since the TV and the little switch were easily accessible to anyone in the room.

However, the switch itself would not work properly with the TV box signal. There would actually be INTERFERENCE on a digital signal. Intermittent sound, digital artifacts on the TV. So you know that I did some troubleshooting, I used the same HDMI cables without the switch to confirm there were no issues with the cables. You literally could not watch TV with this switch attached to the FiOS box.

So, a complete waste of money. The switch, hokey remote and IR receiver sit in a box gathering dust. Not valuable enough to demand a return, and no use with any other TV, since the rest of the smaller, newer TVs have at least two HDMI ports. Also, the switch has an alarming “DC in” port, which made me think I was missing a DC block. The switch is actually powered by your cable box (or other powered HDMI device, I assume).

Don’t buy this item. The primary reason someone would buy this is to add HDMI ports to an older TV, which obviously does not work. If you’re an HDMI nut and the two or three ports already on your TV are not enough, sure take your chances on wasting $15.

Direct TV Satellite receiver as TV source, Sony KF-50WE610 TV and Bose 321 GS III for DVD. Did not work. No instructions whatsoever. Remote did not work. Could not even manually select the inputs. Went to Radio Shack to get a power supply. No 5V supply and the 4. 5 and 6V supplies are an additional $20 to add to your switch. Power input is not labeled (+) or (-) so you’re taking risk applying power with one of their power supplies. Very disappointed. But then I bought a $60 Radio shack unit and it didn’t work either. I am able to switch manually so my cables are OK. Can’t recommend this. Now I have to figure out how to return it.
